Data protection policy

I. General

  1. This data protection policy informs users about the method, scope and purposes of the collection and use of personal data on this website by the Controller (see definition in Art. 4 para. 7 General Data Protection Regulation).

  3. We process your personal data exclusively as follows:

    a) Visiting the Costeff website
    The browser used on your device automatically sends information to our website server when you visit the Costeff website. This information will be saved temporarily in what is called a Logfile. The following information will be collected without any action on your part, and stored until their automated deletion:
    • IP-address of the computer making the request,
    • date and time of access,
    • name and URL of the retrieved file,
    • website from which access was made (referrer URL),
    • used browser and where appropriate your computer’s operating system and the name of your access provider.
    We will process the aforementioned data for the following purposes:
    • to ensure the establishment of a smooth connection to the website
    • to ensure convenient use of our website
    • to evaluate system security and stability as well as
    • for further administrative purposes.
    The legal basis for processing data is Art. 6 para. 1 clause 1 lit. f General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legitimate interest follows from the data collection purposes listed above. In no case will we use the collected data for the purpose of profiling you.

    b) Cookies
    We use cookies on our site. Cookies are small files that your browser automatically creates and that are stored on your device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when you visit our site. The use of cookies serves to optimize usability. For example, through the use of cookies we can see that you have already visited us previously and what data and preferences you inputted then so that you will not have to input them again.
    Furthermore, we use cookies to record and evaluate statistics about the use of our website.
    The data processed by cookies are required for the purposes mentioned to protect our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 clause 1 lit. f General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
    You can configure your browser so that no cookies are stored on your computer or so that a notification always pops up before a new cookie is created. However, disabling cookies completely may mean that you cannot use all the features on our website.

    c) Contacting us
    If you contact us (for example via a contact form or e-mail), your details will be stored for the purpose of processing the request as well as for follow-up questions. The processing of data for the purpose of contacting us is in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 clause 1 lit. of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on the basis of your voluntarily granted consent.
  4. Your data will not be disclosed to third parties, except for the processing of data mentioned under "II. External Services".
  5. We will store your data. You have the right to be told by the Controller what information we hold about you and to make any correction or deletion or changes to the data or to restrict or object to the processing of your data and you have the right to data portability, as long as this is not precluded by a legal duty to preserve records.
  6. You have the right to make a complaint to the competent supervisory authority in regards to the processing of your data.The competent supervisory authority is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Friedrichstraße 219, 10969 Berlin (http://www.datenschutz-berlin.de).
  7. The provision of personal data is required for accessing our web pages and for contacting us.

II. External Services

  1. Google Analytics
    This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ("Google“). Google Analytics uses what are called "Cookies", text files, which are stored on your computer and which allow us to analyse how you use our website. The information generated by the cookie about how you use this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If IP anonymization is activated on this website, then your IP address will be shortened by Google beforehand within member states of the European Union or other states who are parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the US and shortened there.
    Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. We also have a legitimate interest in the processing of data for these purposes. The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is § 15 para. 3 of the German Telemedia Act or Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The data sent by us and linked to cookies, log names (e.g. user IDs) or promotional IDs will be automatically deleted after 14 months. The deletion of data, for which the retention period has expired, is done automatically once a month.
    The IP address provided by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can prevent cookies from being stored by enabling the corresponding browser software; however, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use all the features of this website to the fullest extent possible. Moreover, you may prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie in relation to your use of the website (incl. your IP address) as well as Google’s processing of this data by using the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de in order to download and install the available browser plugin.
